Andrew is a composer of unusual versatility writing film music, musical theatre, concert music and pop and jazz. He combines his own distinctive style with a rare melodic gift and an uncanny ability to inhabit a wide variety of genres. Andrew began working in film and musical theatre shortly after completing his PhD in Composition studying with Michael Finnissy at Southampton University. Prior to this Andrew had won a scholarship for a masters degree at the Royal College of Music in Composing for the Screen which he completed after a Bachelor's degree at York University.
His film composition credits include music for the Video Games Guardians of Ancora and Age of Heroes, the films Nine Miles Down, Journal of a Contract Killer (both with Stephen Parsons), the animated short Lily White and the sci-fi thriller Zero Sum. His additional composition credits for television include the natural history series Great Barrier Reef (BBC), Rocket Men (Dangerous), How the Universe Works (Discovery), and Last Days of the Dinosaurs (Discovery).
Andrew is also an accomplished orchestrator and arranger, and a conductor and jazz pianist and has worked on EMMY winning and BAFTA, EMMY and Golden Globe nominated projects, including the EMMY winning score to Into The Storm, (also Golden Globe nominated), the BAFTA nominated Film A Mighty Heart (starring Angelina Jolie), and the Spice Girls 2008 world tour. Other credits include Mr Bean’s Holiday (Working Title), Superstorm (BBC/ HBO), Wild Child (Working Title), Moonshot (History), Glorious 39 (BBC), the Theme for the 2010 BBC General Election Coverage (BBC), Attack The Block (Channel 4 Films), The Face of An Angel (BBC Films) and Damascus Cover (H Films).
